Pay ranges from about $44.71 to $70.59 per hour, and the median salary in America for electrical engineers is $93,010. Naturally, the more education and training you have, the higher your pay. However, these numbers still reflect a typical 40-hour week. This means with little education, you'll be able get a great career without having to work a lot of overtime. This gives you the best of both worlds: a rewarding and well-paying career, and plenty of time with your family and friends because you won't have to work a ton just to make money.

Possibilities Are Nearly Endless

When you have an electrical engineering degree, your possibilities are open. For example, it's becoming more and more important to understand technology in almost any position. Because electrical engineers are so knowledgeable and skilled in technological advances, they are excellent candidates for many positions, so even if you don't want to be an electrical engineer, your degree can help propel you to a better position. Also, electrical engineering relies heavily on science and math, which are always important tools to have in your bag because they are always the same no matter where you go.

Ongoing Education Is a Must

It may seem that ongoing education is a downside to being an electrical engineer, but it's quite the opposite. Technology is always changing and evolving. Because of this, people in the technological field must keep up on ongoing education, so they learn everything new that is being developed. To many people, this makes the job exciting. In some jobs, you end up doing the exact same thing every day, quickly leading to burn out or just making you hate your job. However, everyday could be something different with an electrical engineer, so you won't get bored.  

It Could Be a Stepping Stone

For some people, being an electrical engineer, making the minimum or a little higher is perfect, but you can use your electrical engineering degree as a starting point to an even better career, even if it isn't in the engineering field. This is because being an engineer teaches you important skills, such as problem solving, critical thinking, etc. These are important traits that are often frowned upon in some jobs because they simply want to work without thinking.
